First Fall

It has been a blizzard nearly all day today. There is snow all over the ground and we are not too excited about that. What do you expect we are in Cache Valley....we'll probably see snow on and off until June. Just a quick post about what has been going on around here then I am off to bed.

Last weekend was Tim's birthday. We went out to dinner the night before at Cafe Rio. Then on his birthday we had my family over went for a bike ride and made B-B-que Chicken Crepes...one of my favorite meals. Tim thought it sounded disgusting at first but he loves it too!

He is really twenty four- but we though we would represent his maturity level with candles ;)

Ian loves his baths...lots. He just recently discovered that it is fun the pour the water out of the bathtub and onto the floor with his cups.

He also loves brushing his teeth. His four teeth that is. His two bottom teeth and he just got his top two teeth last weekend (March 21st). Now his top right eye tooth looks like it is about to come in too.

Everyday Ian is getting a little better at walking and more daring. Today we had our first tumble and fell down 4 stairs. Tim was in our bedroom and I was in Ian's room putting away his laundry. I told Tim I would be in Ian's room and Tim thought that I took Ian with me -then we heard a thud. Poor little guy he was just laying there looking around, then when I went into a panic he cried for a minute. He is doing great though just a few little bumps. Luckily we have a check-up with the doctor tomorrow anyway so I am just going to make sure he is double checks everything and anything.

Hope all is well with everyone else. We are enjoying life here and counting down until Spring Break (next week) and Summer begin!

Spring!

Friday was officially the first day of spring! What a b-e-a-utiful day it was. Tim had the day off of school, and I cut out early from work (it was a teacher work day and I would rather do my work at home while Ian is napping -duh). We had a great day -it was 64 degrees here in Logan and we were loving every minute of it.

We got out our bikes and hooked up Ian's carrier and headed to the park for a picnic.

We had lots of food and snacks which of course Ian had to try everything. He just shoved a whole cracker in his mouth here -then he laughs about fitting it all in his mouth.
Ian had a blast and was really good and just stayed on the blanket -I was amazed myself.

Then he discovered the grass!!! He loved picking at it with he finger and flicking it.
Then he would pick it
put it on the blanket and reach back for some more.

Isn't it crazy -last week were sledding in tons of snow
and this week were outside in the sun playing in the grass.

Last week Ian went sledding for the first time with Erin and Ellie. At first I'll admit I was a little nervous -I didn't know how she would be able to go sledding with Ian and her girl, Ellie. However, if anyone could do it it was definitely Erin. Supermom!

He made it down 2 runs with them in the backpack. Although Ellie reported that after the first ride down Ian was not smiling. But we usually say that no news is good news -if he did not like sledding he would have let them know.

After a few runs Erin was holding him and he kept nodding off. She got the car seat and Ian took a nice little cat nap while they played in the sun a little bit longer. It was a gorgeous warm sunny day ! You can reference her story here.

We have been so blessed to have the Thompson's be a part of ours and especially Ian's life. You can tell that he absolutely loves it and it is not hard too see why. Erin sent over this video clip of Ian and Ellie playing ...and all of the picture you see in this post! Thanks!

Ok so this post is mostly going out so when I open up our blog I see Ian and not some shooting target bulls eye -bluuuu. We'll see how long it takes Tim to notice ;) Not much happening this week we got lots of snow earlier in the week...just over a foot. And it is supposed to snow again the beginning of this week. Is it spring yet??? It was bright and sunny the last half. Ian even went sledding for the first time with Erin and Ellie. Those pictures and post soon to come.

Things have been pretty usual around here...
busy as always but at least having fun in the meantime.

Pictures!

On Saturday we went and had pictures done at Kiddie Kandids in the mall.

This is what came out of it....

The photo shoot went pretty well -Ian was not super happy but he was not grumpy either. He was just kind of mellow and enjoyed watching everyone. I was happy with the way things went but not overly impressed. When we were about done we decided to snap a quick family picture and Ian had decided he was done at that point. After we took this picture Ian arched his back and scratched his head on my jacket zipper -which left a bright red line across the entire right side of his head (he has super sensitive skin) so that was the end of pictures.

Overall it was a pretty good experience...and Ian got a lot of clapping in (his hands were always infront of his face in those pictures) but we all had a fun!

Birthday & Ian Wrap Up!

Last Thursday (26th) was Andrews birthday then Friday (27th) was my birthday. Birthday's are a blast when you are a kid but lets face it they usually bite when you get older. It is supposed to be this special day but honestly it is just another day. The house work does not magically do itself, work doesn't just say oh it's your birthday have the day off, and students don't just stop being obnoxious just because it is your birthday. Actually mine did!

The cake on the left is one that a few of my old students from last quarter made for me. They some how remembered that it was my birthday and knew that I liked purple. You don't announce to your students its your birthday or all day all you here is "Lets have a party -because it's your birthday," or "Lets have no homework -because its your birthday"....and the list goes on and never seems to end. Just as my last class of the day found out and did. My reply was "Lets take your test so you are all quiet and I can sit here in peace -because its my birthday." All and all it was a was a great day. My old students came into my seventh hour class sang happy birthday, brought party hats for everyone to wear, the cake shown above, and of candy bars for me (it is clearly no surprise that I like candy).The cake even had purple frosting but what you can't see is the actual cake is purple too! Definitely made my day!

I have to admit we were all a little skeptical to eat the cake. Most teachers know that if your students make you something "homemade" -you probably should not eat it. I could never see these students doing that but you never know. Oh well we ate it anyways and it was delicious!!! No side effects either.

As far as Ian goes -he is still extremely happy! As you can see below he thinks it is hilarious to throw all of his toys out of his container or off the shelves. Here he is laughing because he was chewing on the monkey and I thought it was funny, so of course he was laughing too!

Everything is hilarious to him. However we are getting pictures taken later today and you just wait I am sure everything will be upsetting to him then.

Ian has been starting to take a few steps here and there on his own without a walker. However this is about as far as he will go. From one window seal to the next.

He loves bath time... but only if you let him stand up in the bathtub and play with the plug and shower knob. Also he will only get out happily when he is ready to get out. If you take him out before then you can expect a lot of screaming.

He is growing like a weed. Everyday he is just getting bigger and bigger.

Ian has also discovered that he can clap with his hands together and not just banging toys. Nevermind that he can partially roll down the window in my car -now he can finally clap his hands together too!
