Birthday Celebration!

On Saturday morning Ian woke up earlier than usual. Tim and I were lying in bed wishing that everyone was still asleep but it did not look like it was going to happen. Ian started heading downstairs and then we heard him holler from the living room -"Me birthday!" He then spent the next few minutes trying to open presents so we decided to let him open one.

Notice the box on the right? This is Ian's house which he loves. He has colored all over it inside and outside and loves playing in his house. Sadly today (Sunday) was its last day with us. Ian has been wearing big boy underwear all week and had an accident in his box today. Good bye box we will miss you -but not the space you take up :)

After a delicious juicy roll breakfast and some playtime we went and picked up Ellie and headed to the fun park. The kids were very excited to see each other.

They had a blast running around and going down the slides in the soft play (Tim is right behind them).
This was their favorite slide. The two of them would go down backwards, sideways, and on their tummies. Ian was too fast I never was able to capture him coming down.
We had lunch and between the four of us ate an entire pizza. After lunch the kids wanted to play in the soft play again. They even created their own slide and found that it was fun to slide down on your tummy or back, or like Ian just with your feet.We played arcade games and they both got to pick out a few prizes for the ride home.
We got home later in the afternoon and dropped Ellie off and then Ian went down for a nap. After naptime the Thompson's came over to celebrate Ian's birthday! As soon as they walked in the door Ian wanted to open presents which worked out great because dinner wasn't quite ready.
Here he is opening a tool set from daddy and a baseball tee with bat. He also got a cars look and find book, and basketball. As if he wasn't spoiled enough the Thompson's gave him a grocery cart (he loves running around with Ellie's at their house and has already put it some good use on his new one), plus pool toys and lots of bubbles. With new toys they both wanted to play outside -luckily there was a break in the rain and we were able to do just that.

We came inside and had homemade Mac & Cheese, teriyaki chicken, grilled salmon, salad, and bread sticks. After eating the kids watched toy story for a minutes then we pulled out the cake. Ian was great at blowing out the candles. It took a couple times and quite a bit of spit but he got them both blown out.

It really was a great day. Ian had a blast all day long. When asking him at night what his favorite part of the day was he just kept saying all the different things we had done all day. Thanks Thompson's for spending the day with us. Happy Birthday Ian!!! I can't believe you are two already!

Two years old!
Weight: 30.0 lbs Height 35 inches
70th percentile in both. First let it be know that when the nursed asked Ian to stand by the wall so she could see how tall he was he did so right away. Then just as she was measuring he went up on his high tippy toes to be really tall -she laughed.

Can you even believe it??? This picture describes Ian in so many ways. I am sure some day he will hate me for it but a picture really says a thousand words! Ian loves to be naked and shouts out "Naked Boy" while running around. Below is a list of the various things that I want to make sure I remember even when he begins talking back to me -wait he already does that :)

-When hollering to Ian to see what he is doing or having him come upstairs he responds "What." This is pronounced perfectly, and with way to much attitude.

-When walking into a crowded room he shouts out "Hi people." And upon leaving he shouts "Bye Bye people." I am not sure where he learned this but my students at school think it is hilarious.

-He copies everything you do. Note: don't drink your cereal milk or Ian's cereal will end up in his lap when he tries to copy you.

-He loves the color pink (we thank Ellie for this one)

-He has been trying to stick food up his nose. So the other day at the table I said, "Ian if you put raisin's up your nose we will have to go see the doctor." He excitingly responded, "Dr. Horkley!" Apparently that did not work out quite as I had planned.

-He loves watching Curious George

-He tends to hit when he gets really upset or if something does not go his way. However he will also occasionally walk himself to time out after doing so.

-He loves food and all fruits

-He loves to tackle/wrestle

-His favorite movies are Nemo, and Bolt

-He can now say the dinner pray by himself but if you don't help him end the prayer he will keep humming and babbling until you remind him how.

-Whenever mommy is still in bed in the morning he gets really excited and asks "Mommy work?" Then we enjoy staying in our pajamas most of the afternoon and playing and cleaning around the house. However, if mommy is out of bed and getting ready for the day he sadly says "mommy work." But knows that I will be home after his nap.

-He loves to give big bear hugs and growls while giving them

-When asked to do something he will either choose to ignore you on purpose or say "O Tay"

-His favorite food is Mac n'cheese or pizza. Although he also loves homemade sweet and sour chicken.

-He is getting better now but for the longest time he would always drop the first letter off when saying most words.

-He is obsessed with play-doh

-He is the first to point out when other children are being naughty even if he is doing the same things right behind them

-He loves to help with all cooking (which is not always helpful)

-He calls all fruit snacks "Nemo's." The first fruit snacks he ever had were Nemo shaped fruit snacks. He now believes that is just what you call fruit snacks.

-Whenever Tim works graves somehow Ian always ends up crawling into bed with me.

-When told it is time to come in or go to bed he always responds while pointing one finger, "One more minute."

-If you ask Ian "Guess What" he will always respond "I love you too!"

Visit Grandpa MacNair

This past weekend Tim's dad was able to travel to Utah for business. We were able to spend some time together while he was here. Ian's birthday is coming up on Saturday and he is very excited. He has been reminded us many times and finally got down holding up two fingers to show how old he is. He still loves reading books...Rumble in the Jungle is one of his favorites.
When Grandpa arrived he asked where a Toys R'Us was. I responded we did not have one. Then he asked where he could find Ian a power wheels car...the look on my face must have said it all because his dad responded as such, "When I was 18 months I got my first power car, when Tim was 18 months he got his first power car, and now Ian needs one." So later that night after dinner we all headed into town to good ole "Wally World." Tim was all for the idea and encouraged it, I was just seeing him driving down the hill in front of our house and having it ending badly. But once Ian sat in the "big truck" you could see his face light up with excitement and that he would definitely have a lot of fun.

That night we brought it home in the box and Tim's brother and wife Amy arrived for the weekend. The other children in the house (aka Tim and Jimmer) were very excited to set it up. This meant it was going to be a late night for Ian as well. Like he was going to go to bed with them setting up his gator. As you can see Ian enjoyed helping put it together too!p.s. Love the middle picture -notice the tongue. This is what Ian does when he is in deep concentration.

Given that it was nearly 11 pm we would not be taking it outside. We told Ian in the morning he could drive the "big truck." At 7:00 am Ian came running into our bedroom saying, "Big truck, drive big truck." We headed downstairs and everyone was awake at this point, mostly because Ian was jumping for joy, and we all headed outside.

Much to my surprise he can drive it really well. He is still getting the steering down but definitely understands that holding down the peddle makes you "go fast."

Lucky me- I can actually ride in the gator with him. It is a little tight with the seat pushed forward, but he thinks it is fun to drive me around and I don't mind it either.

After a long and thankfully sunny day of playing that night we opened more birthday presents. Ian is loving cars and airplanes and was very excited to open this airplane from Grandma and Grandpa MacNair.

Grandma was even able to join us while opening presents via skype. Ian enjoyed playing peek-a-boo with her as well.
The boots
Before opening this present Tim's mom apologized...then I saw that they were boots and wondered what the big deal was. She mentioned that Tim had a pair of boots exactly like these and would wear them everyday whether rain or shine. I did not think much of it but sure enough all he wants to wear are the monkey boots. It doesn't help that he thinks they are curious george boots, so he loves them even more. Whether in pj's, shorts, pants, or church clothes he wants to wear the boots. Somehow they have managed to be left in Tim's car for a few days and that wasn't even my doing :)

We all had a great time together and as always Ian loves the attention. Thanks for making time to visit and the wonderful birthday gifts. Although given the weather here in Utah (it has been raining all week) Ian has been playing in the box more than the actual car. Maybe we should just get him more boxes for his birthday :)

Babysitting Fun!

This past week Tim and I were lucky enough to be able to watch Ellie, Brock, and Issac for a few hours while their parents headed out for their anniversary. We had planned on heading to their house but Ellie wanted to be at our house so we decided it was a good time to pull down more of the baby things. They dropped the kids off and the twins were ready for a nap. They went right to sleep without any problems. So peaceful...

While they were sleeping Ellie and Ian were busy playing and making dinosaur tails with Tim.
They had a blast wearing there dinosaur tails and dancing throughout the whole house. I am not sure how I did not get video of them running wild -actually I am it is called Twins. They definitely know how to keep you busy!

After a short catnap both boys woke up at the same time. Tim was in the middle of gluing the spikes on Ellie's dinosaur tail so I figured I would go and get the twins. I got up to Ian's room and picked up Issac then contemplated how I was going to manage to pick up Brock as well. I propped Issac up in the chair and then picked up Brock and put him next to Issac. Then was able to get the two of them with one in each arm.

I went downstairs and sat on the couch and knew that I was not going to be able to get back up unless Tim helped...so there the three of us sat, which soon became four (Pike), then five (Ellie), then six (Ian), so Tim got the camera.

They were both on the same schedule and quite hungry so Tim feed the boys while I finished making dinner.After dinner we got all the kids in the bath. Ian and Ellie were first because they had been asking all day, "Is it bathtime now?" The two of them definitely know how to have fun and can make splashes on the ceiling. After the "big" kids got out the boys were next. Brock loved the bath and was splashing just as high as the "big" kids. Then Issac was next. He was not too fond of the bath this time around but I am sure he'll warm up to it.

We had a blast watching all the kids and can't wait to watch them again!

Mothers Day

May 2010

Some how it always ends up that Tim works graves the weekend of mothers day. I think maybe he plans it this way??? Either way Ian and I had a wonderful day and Tim did teach Ian to say Happy Mothers Day -which I enjoyed hearing him say over and over again!
The day before daddy and Ian left me take an extra long nap -which is always much needed. When I finally woke up about 4 hours later they brought me home flowers and some of my favorite treats. Plus Ian (with some help from daddy on the front) made me a beautiful mothers day card. Tim decided it would be best to give me the flowers early since last year Ian walked me downstairs to show me the flowers daddy had bought (they were hidden in the shower) without daddy being there.

On Sunday after daddy came home and went to bed Ian and I played outside in our pajamas! It was a beautiful day and the sun was finally shining.
While trying to get ready for church and be quiet so daddy could sleep. Ian thought it was hilarious to put on my church shoes and stomp around on the floor. Which was super loud!
It was a beautiful day!

Wheeler Farm

A couple of weekends ago we headed down to Salt Lake to visit Amy and Jimmer. Ian loves his aunt and uncle and was very excited to go. While we were down there we decided to walk around Wheeler Farm. It is kind of odd that living in logan we decided to go visit a farm but it was a beautiful place and had tons of room to run -too bad it was a little muddy in places from the rain.
Ian loves animals and knows about as many animals as I can name and their sounds. His favorite thing to do while there was to chase the rooster (on the bottom right) all around. The rooster finally realized that Ian couldn't not get it inside the fence area. Ian did try his very best to climb over the fence, and when that did not work he tried to climb through it. Luckily the rooster got away.

Crazy Weather

April 14th, 2010

The weather here in Logan has been absolutely crazy. It will go from being a blizzard one day to in the high 60's and low 70's the next. Ian is not too sure about this weather either. He has loved it getting warmer and running around outside but then it starts snowing and no one really wants to go outside anymore.

The other day it started hailing and they were pretty good size Ian of course wanted to go outside so we just threw on his jacket and opened the back door and let the snow come to us. He loved throwing the little snowballs back outside and thought it was pretty funny. Then they started to melt and he did not like his feet being cold.
Don't worry it looks like a mess but you just pick up the rug and dump it all back outside.

Literally the next day it was nice and warm so we went and played Frisbee golf then got snow cones. I think that a snow cone is Ian's new favorite treat!

Ian has also started mimicking people. Whenever I eat I always have either one or two legs pulled up. Now Ian thinks that when eating lunch or dinner you are supposed to put your leg up. Oops!Here is to hoping we do not see anymore snow!

Twin Boys

While we were in Houston, Brian, Erin, and Ellie were on their way home to Logan with their 3 month old Twin Boys. We were super jealous that Tim would be able to meet them before us, but were definitely having fun in Houston. For those of you who don't know Erin is just like Ian's second mom and Ian also believes Ellie is his sister. Their family has taken care of Ian while Tim has been in school and I have been working and we all absolutely adore them. I hope they don't mind me posting or borrowing a picture, all of our extending family is absolutely tickled for them as well.

These boys are darling and fit into there family perfectly. Ellie will be an amazing big sister.

Due to the quick arrival of these boys when we got home we pulled down Ian's baby clothes started shorting them out. Ian must have thought we were playing dress up because he wanted to try on the clothes as well. This is a 3-6 month outfit but what you can't see is the shirt has only on button done up in the back enough to just hold it on, and the shorts well you can tell they are too tight. Ian kept this outfit on the rest of the day because he thought it was funny.

When we go over to visit their family Ian is always super excited and says that they are his babies. Maybe one day he'll realize that Ellie is not actually his sister and that the babies are not really his??? Either way it is very sweet and he still loves seeing all of them! We are so happy for them and know that these boys will truly be loved!

Ian's nightly prayer just like he says it..."Dear Heavenly Father, bless Mark, Tricia, and babies, baby Brock, and baby Brock (with a reminder he then says) baby Issac, Brian, Ellie, Ellie, Ellie (we have to stop him or he'll just keep saying Ellie), Erin (then he starts the list over a few times), thank you for Jesus, and prophets, and mommy, and daddy, and pike (and anyone else he decides to add), bless good night sleep, name Jesus Christ, Amen.

Spring Break 2010

Houston, Texas

For my spring break I have always stayed home and relaxed around the house. This year I was determined to do something or go somewhere. So Ian and I packed up and headed out of the snow blizzard in Utah to warm weather in Houston, Texas (Tim stayed home and went to school)! One of my best friends lives there so we decided it had been too long and we needed to visit. You would never know that all of us had not seen each other in over a year. From the moment they picked us up at the airport it was just like we were lounging on the couch with the babies playing and Lisa, Ella, and I watching something silly on TV like American Idol. We pulled into their home and normally Ian is a little bashful at first but not this time, he was super excited and ready to play with the kids as if he were right at home!

Ian and Cavin are just 6 weeks apart and each have their own personalities. Ian is a little ball of energy and loves to play rough with little to no fear. Cavin is a little more tender/sensitive and does not like to play quite so rough. Even so they still got along well, Ian just had to be sure not to look at Cavin in the wrong way :)

Ella did not mind playing rough she though it was pretty fun unless Ian got too hyped up.

Besides library time, playing at the park, and running around outside and inside, we even went to the Houston Zoo. Ian loves animals and one of his favorite things to do is go to the zoo. It was much bigger than the Logan Zoo -although I am not sure what isn't bigger than the Logan Zoo.

One late night Lisa and I ventured out like silly teenagers into the Ghetto of Houston. Don't worry we left the kids asleep at home with Ragnar -well almost asleep :) Thanks Ragnar. We headed to the ghetto to see the movie "The Last Song" and had quite the experience. About 20 minutes to go in the movie we heard this "gun" shot. There were only 5 other ladies in the audience and after they talked about what it could have been we all sat very low in our seats and finished the movie anyway. We don't know what it was -we just made sure we were not the first or the last people to stand up and leave. Definitely the ghetto :)
We all had a blast and if it were not for the hot hot summers in Houston I would be right back in June! Thanks for letting us stay with you and making us feel like we were right at home! Thanks Ragnar for letting me steal Lisa away from you for the week too! We'll miss you but hopefully we'll see you soon!
