Post 100, gigadee gigadee yaaah!! AKA: Ian loves the stairs

Ian has been climbing stairs at his grandparents house since he was six month old but did not discover that we had stairs in our house until just this week. Know all he wants to do is climb the two flights of stairs in the house instead of playing with his toys. Much to our amusment and dismay. He crawls over to them, turns to give you a toothy grin, and then starts climbing! Here's a video of him climbing.

Daycare.

Who wants to pay me to stay at home and take care of my child???
I am open to a reasonable negotiations???
I am a little expensive and medical insurance and benefits must be included.
Maybe I can talk the school district into paying me to stay home and
teach my own child instead of 135+ other children???
Some of them are at about the same maturity level as Ian.

Today was Ian's first full day of daycare from 8 am to 3 pm. It wasn't that bad but like I am really going to enjoy it -lets be real. Tim dropped Ian off then headed to beaver mountain to go snowboarding with the fresh snow and enjoy his last week of freedom before school begins (remarks on that are welcome just beware of who writes this) and I headed off to work.

I was about to leave work during my prep period to go and take a peek and see how Ian was doing but my mom was able to go and check it out for me. Thanks! He was doing good -minus that another child was sucking on his binkie that was clipped to him (yes I know I am not sure how that works either). Then he started crying and they caregiver picked him up and was getting his bottle ready. My mom mentioned that the other girl had his binkie and they took it away -yes I know they are going to love us! He struggled with his 1st nap a little but I later realized that I never did inform them that he does not sleep on his back -he screams on his back and must be on his tummy. He has been that way since he was 3 weeks old. I am not sure how I missed that I wrote a page long detailed note of his schedule and other random facts -again I am sure that are just going to love me!

While they were feeding him my mom left and went back to work. Finally my work ended and I bolted out the door as soon as possible -bye bye students catch me on a better day but tomorrow doesn't look good either :) My mom had arrived at the daycare just before me and went in to get Ian. Tim was back from boarding and met us there as well. Ian was soo excited to see us -truth be told he was excited to see me more than anyone else. He's not dumb he knows who feeds him. Another girl was playing with Ian's stuffed animal that he sleeps with. I guess I have a problem with sharing and I am selfish (or prideful lol Lisa!) -because I do not like my sons things being shared. I am sure Ian could care less and willingly shares them but what kind of a mother would say "No, don't share your things with other children." Apparently me.

All in all Ian was feed a bottle 3 times, ate oatmeal, diaper was changed 4 times, and even took 2 naps. But it is still not the same. He didn't get his fruits (because they had a busy day) and he didn't get all the attention and love he deserves. Yes of course he got attention and love and they took care of him but not the kind of attention and love that I would show him. I am looking at other options but there just isn't much. I was thinking lottery ticket -but like I am going to buy a ticket your probablility of winning is as good as nothing -duh I am a mathematician we do problems like that all the time. So are things going well I guess. Do I hate him going there -it is day two and the answer is a definate yes. Don't ask about day three...and pray that there is not a day four. But the outcome doesn't look good.

Playtime!

Things are finally back to normal! Hurray it has been too long! We went to the doctor again this week because Ian is still pulling and scratching his ears until they are scabbed. Doctor said that everything looked good. Basically from this cold Ian has developed these bad habits -the worst being not sleeping through the night anymore. After a few nights of crying every hour or so -he is finally back to sleeping through the night. We hope!!!

Ian had his first day of daycare last week and then goes twice for full day's this week. He did really well! We went and peek in on him a couple of times (without him seeing us) and he was busying trying to climb up the crib, knock the barn over the moment she would set it back up, and having fun with the other little boy there. I guess when Ian first arrived the two of them sat and giggled at each other.

Ian has been pretty happy and loves to play, climb, and share his toys with people. His new things is when he hears me come home from work his goes to the stairs and begins climbing to meet me at the door.

Sharing his toys.

Climbing over everyone -no reason to go around them if you can go over them.

Loves pulling down all of his toys and books
-notice the tippy toes.

Loves helping me get clothes out of the dryer. And lately steals the socks, puts them in his mouth, then crawls as fast as he can away from me. I think he learned this from the dog.

Our little boy is just getting to big. He loves soda crackers, graham crackers, pretty much anything we are eating he must have a litte bite. He has even had a little bit of McDonald's cheese burger bun and that was his favorite!

Sleep Deprived

Lately sleep has been a rair occurance -and any extra time is spent catching some shut eye here and there. As of last night Ian finally slept without waking up 4-5 times, or every hour to two hours, during the night crying. Although he did wake up once at 3:00 am after a pat on the back, and a quick rock in his chair, he was right back to sleep till 7:30 am.

So now maybe things can start to return to normal. I was planning on taking Ian in for his flu booster today because it is slightly overdue. But I couldn't bare the thought of another sleepless night and he is happy as can be today -why ruin that? The diarrhea has come to slow down we aren't going through 15 diapers a day. We got the medicine for a yeast infection and that cleared it right up. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions will most definitely be looking back to those comments frequently I am sure.

Today has been quite a relaxing day -as you can see by the pictures. Ian has enjoyed climbing over me all day -if I am in the room I am not allowed to do anything but play toys with him or he gets upset. It is 3:00 pm and we are all still in pj's (except Tim -party pooper). But Ian and I are living it up! I am not looking forward to tomorrow. I start back to work and Ian starts at the daycare for a half day. Next week he goes twice just to get him used to the whole concept. I am beyond nervous and really don't like the idea of it. Ian is on such a good schedule and I am guessing that it is all going to go down the drain. Luckily my mom is close by so I am expecting her to keep tabs on him frequently -very frequently mom!

Ian is enjoying climbing, and occasionally walking as long as he is holding onto something. Sometimes he thinks he is better than he really is and lets go with all the confidence in the world -then falls. But no worries he gets right back up.

He has starting eating cheerios and I don't believe is quite as good as his distant buddy Cavin. He tends to first put them in his ear until I put them in his mouth. At the beginning he kept gagging on them -but after a week of practicing he is starting to get the hang of it.

As for me no news. I am still losing weight the doctor didn't seem to be to concerned about it. The doctor was very interesting to say the least and we will not be returning to see him. They are thinking it is postpartum thyroidism so they will run a bunch of labs again in a couple weeks and are guessing that possible my thyroid will turn hypo so I will put on more weight. So until then I get to be poked by more needles. My favorite -sense the sarcasim!

Pain in the Butt

This is what happens when you have had diarrhea for nearly two weeks.

Diaper Rash that may possibly be a yeast infection from the antibiotics. Thus Ian gets two baths a day and every now and then rocks the bottomless look!

There is only one other person that understands Ian's pain, and what it is like to go seven to eight times a day -his Grandpa Jim who is currently undergoing treatment for colon cancer. Thus sore bottom and chapped cheeks -we're waiting on your pic Grandpa Jim :)

Still Sick!

Still sick! Upon returning from New York we took Ian to the doctor New Years eve because he just did not seem to feel well. He had an ear infection along with other symptoms so they put him on an antibiotic. After the weekend he seemed to be doing even worse -wheezing, coughing, runny nose, pulling at his ears, so I called the doctors again and he said to bring him in.
The diagnosis: Ian still had his ear infection so they put him on a different kind of medication I don't think it has done anything and we might have to just wait it out. As for the wheezing and horrible cough. It could be RSV, bronchitis, asthma. They checked his oxygen levels and they were a little on the lower side but ok -then they hooked him up to a machine similar to an oxygen machine but it gave him albuterol. The doctor gave us some to give him at home every four hours and showed us the different breathing signs to watch for. It is now five days later and he still has a horrible cough and is pulling at his ears, but the wheezing is slowly going away.

He is still a pretty happy boy and loves his purple guy from christmas.
Notice his sitting position -he loves to sit like this.

Recently Ian has discovered that he can share his toys and loves to try to share them with the dog -gross! He also loves to play with the dog and steal his toys from him then chase the dog with them and play tug-o-war. It is pretty entertaining -video to come soon.

In other news: I had a doctors appointment right after Ian's appointment because I cannot put on any weight, as hard as I try to put it on I still seem to lose it. I figure most of it was probably from nursing Ian but with my families complaints and lets face it rude comments I scheduled an appointment at their request. Turns out I have hyperthyroidism (which is what Andrew has as well) and also my red and white blood cells were very high so it is starting to attach my own body, some type of autoimmune disease. If you can't tell I really don't know a whole lot about it yet -but I have another appointment coming up on Tuesday so I am sure I will learn more then. Until then if you want to know more you'll have to talk to my mom, because thankfully she has been the one dealing with all of the doctors, etc.

Now for good news: We got into the hospital daycare! There is a huge waiting list and we have been on it since October. We called on Tuesday morning and they mentioned that they had just had a cancellation that morning and could slip us in Monday thru Wednesday. I don't know how that worked out or how it happened since we were still somewhere in the middle of the list -but I am not complaining. Talk about being blessed!

I can hear grinding on the crib -which means Ian must be up from his nap. Just this last week he has started chewing on the wood of his crib -any suggestions on how to get him to stop would be much appreciated!

One Months worth of Ian Moives!

Here are some old and new video footage i have been meaning to splice together for awhile now.

This first video is of Ian playing with Pike.

This one is of Ian crawling and knocking over towers and climbing in his bouncy chair. (Man that kid can crawl fast)

This video has footage of Ian "wrapping" his first present, the night before Christmas, the day of Christmas and of Grandma Nana playing with Ian with one of her classic puppets.

And finally this video is Tim teaching Jimmer how to ride his pogo stick.

Wife disclaimer: If you haven't figured it out yet Tim did this post -I clearly wouldn't post video footage of how to ride a pogo stick gone bad. Although it is kind of funny but not really something I would like in my scrapebook/journal no offense. I have to agree with Nan's comment "Why don't we read the box?" Watch at your own risk :)

Seven Months!

Here are some of the new things that Ian is doing...
crawling everywhere
pulling himself up to a stand using furniture, etc
standing without holding anything for about 5 seconds then grabs back onto something
drinking out of a cup (with supervision of course)
Has two bottom teeth
Says: Ma Ma, Daddy, K, Hi, and G ma

This is how most of our photo shoot went trying
to get Ian to hold still and stay on the blanket.

This picture is just funny. You would never know he has been sick all week with a runny nose, temperature, cough, and an ear infection.

After being in New York for a week Ian's MacNair grandparents were sad to see him go, but his Diamond grandparents were thrilled to have him back.
Can you tell the theme in these three pictures? Mr. Grabby Hands

Just thought this picture was cute and had to post it.
We have loved having the last couple of weeks off, with neither of us working and being able to spend time together as a family. We are all hoping to all get feeling better soon -although it is kind of nice when the whole family is sick because then you don't have to worry about getting someone else sick. But we are not looking forwards to when reality hits again on Monday :(
