School Pictures 2011

I have been meaning to post this for a while now. We got Ian's school pictures back in September and I absolutely love them! He is so stinkin' cute!
Ian absolutely loves preschool! We usually hear (sometimes too loudly) about all the songs that he is learning, all the fun games (colors, shapes, and letter games), the food they are making, the numbers and letters they are learning, and everything else inbetween. Although we hear a lot about Kimball (standing next to him in the picture). This is Ian's best friend at school. We know that Kimball lives on a mountain, has five superman shirts (which Ian then points out he does not have any), he was Harry Potter for Halloween (who Ian wanted to be even though he has no clue who Harry Potter is), and most importantly that they never get into any trouble. After having observed and visited his class I can agree -they do not get into trouble! They are both the sweetest little boys.

At the parent meet and greet we also found out that Kimball's parents knew a lot about Ian from Kimball. I would love to hear one of their conversations at school. We were also very excited to find out that they live just a mile away! I am not sure this is good or bad, Ian just wants to play with Kimball everyday. He thinks that he can walk to his house (it is not that close).

Overall we have been very impressed with the school. Ian is learning and having a lot of fun at the same time. Perfect combination!!!

Random

Things have been busy as usual around our home. While we haven't gone anywhere exciting, or done anything out of the ordinary, the kids are still growing up and changing just as fast. Ian is a little busy body, and Aaron is following right in his footsteps. Here are a few pictures of the boys this past week.

Daddy brought home a BIG surprise for Ian after work one day.
See what I mean??? BIG surprise. I am not sure if I should be worried but he ate the entire thing.Aaron is obsessed with getting into trouble. He had his first official time out this week for continuously banging on the TV stand. After about 20 minutes of sitting him back in the same spot he finally got it the point. However, after the 4th time out for the same behavior we decided he doesn't get. Lately I have noticed that if I look at him he will laugh and continue to cause trouble. But, if I ignore it for a maximum of 5 seconds he will stop and do something else. So sometimes we ignore. Now he thinks it is funny to hit Ian (or Tim and I -probably because it is something we can't ignore). As for Ian, he thinks he should be the one to put Aaron into time out. Don't be mistaken they both cause quite a bit of trouble together.
Aaron discovering that he can turn on my phone and work the camera.
Ian with his triple layer cheese and cracker sandwich.Ian and Aaron rearranging the furniture.Aaron is trying to be like his brother. No shirt -No problem! Aaron loves pushing the buttons in the car while we wait for Ian at preschool.

The weather around here is a hit or miss. One day it is freezing cold and the next day it is warm. We have been trying to take full advantage of any warm day we can get!We were also able to head up to Sundance to pick up Ian's ski pass for the winter. We were all cracking up laughing at Ian's picture -yes even the employees. I have never seen Ian make this face. Hilarious! Other than that, we are still waiting for the SNOW!!!

My Favorite Store!

Maybe I shouldn't tell you this but I have a new favorite store!!! The Orem Deseret Industries also know as the DI. You can judge me all you want but it is absolutely amazing. We were dropping off a donation to the store and had heard that it was amazing, so we headed inside. The store is huge, the staff is very friendly, and the deals are insane. I am finally realizing that I should be saving some of the things I find the boys for Christmas, but I am just too excited about it and can't believe the price. Here are some of our highlights.

Little Tikes Farm a whole $3 dollars.
It looks brand new and the sounds all work (I found the exact same one at the store for $40)

I mentioned our dining room chairs not too long ago in a post. I thought I would show you a before and after. The chairs were $15 dollars each. We took off the cushion and spray painted them black. We did not distress them because our two little boys will take care of that all on their own! Eventually we'll reupholster the chair but with the boys and their messy fingers it is much easier to just wipe it down after dinner. The finished product! The high back chairs my mom bought for $30 for the set when Tim and I were getting married and our neighbors moved. Good eye mom! They look great reupholsters and sprayed black as well. Ian took care of the distressing :) The table Tim made from a door that we got at the antique shop for $27 dollars. So...$105 dollars for 7 chairs, $27 table, about $60 in hardware and wood to make the legs and panels, $100 for the glass top. $292 dollars for a dining set! Not too shabby! We are on the hunt now for a long dresser for our bedroom. I am tired of trying to cram Tim's underwear into the drawers hoping that it will magically close. Sorry TMI about Tim -hahaWe have also been able to add to our Dr. Suess collection with many books that look brand new anywhere from $0.75 to $1.50 a book! Ian loves books! If he could he would have me read to him all day long. Aaron on the other hand does not like books, at all. He will not sit in my lap through a small flip book anymore :(

On Monday I found a sit n' spin for $2.00 I could not take an actual picture because I am finally learning and these items have been put into hiding for Christmas! At the store they are $20.
As I am writing this I am starting to realize that this is becoming very addicting! I love searching through the store trying to see what new items they have put out, and what the kids would love! For instance, if I go tomorrow maybe they will still have the Little Tikes Car that was brand new in the box for $15. Aaron would love it (normally a 50-70 dollar car). I decided against since I knew Tim would "kill" me if I brought home a big toy. Oh dear, this could be a problem. A very BIG problem!

Burrrrrrr

It is freezing cold here in Utah Valley. Although we do know that is much colder back home in Logan, we are still cold. We were getting a little jealous of the snow Logan was getting but look....
We finally got some snow (Picture taken November 5th)! I know kind of pathetic right?!? Nonetheless we were all excited and still eager for more! Ian had to go outside immediately to play. He even skipped breakfast that morning. Aaron wanted to go outside but I was not feeling up to it. Did I mention we had not even had breakfast? That means it was early, and I am not an early morning person. As for Pike he was begging to get back inside.
The snow melted later that day (yes I am still counting the whole 1/4 of an inch as snow) but it is too cold to go outside. We have found many "unique" ways to entertain ourselves inside and try and get some energy out.

One of Aaron's favorite activities. He especially likes it when he rocks just far enough that he almost tips over.

Ian has been building many creative house. In this house he was trapping Easton inside. Easton is our neighbor and they have not exactly been getting along very well.
Aaron loves climbing into, under, through, and between everything. He thinks he closet is a play cave. If I am not sure quite where he has run of to (yes run he is cruising around pretty fast these days) he can usually be found here. As long as my bathroom door is closed so he can't play in my make-up, and his bathroom door is closed so he can't play in the toilet. Yes both of these things have happen a couple times.
I was trying to find the camera to take the picture below, but couldn't. I finally gave up and grabbed my phone. It must have taken me a little longer than I thought because he ended up breaking the drawer. Luckily I was able to fix it by bending the metal sliding bars back. While doing so I ended up snapping the roller wheel. It still works remarkable well with a semicircle wheel! Our new favorite activity is paper snowball fights! The best part is ripping up all the paper. I have been getting tons of decor magazines in the mail. Instead of letting them go to waste I have let the boys enjoy ripping them up. Then we wad it up and throw it at each other. Very fun activity if you are bored. After we get out the recycling box and "save the paper for later" as Ian would say.

I am not sure what has happen?!!! Maybe Ian thinks since Aaron is walking he can now play. Aaron always wanted to play before, Ian just did not want him to. The last three weeks they have been getting along so well! They make each other laugh, enjoy playing together, love running around, or chasing the dog. Ian always shares his food with him and makes sure to break it into smaller pieces if it is too big. Pike always hopes to catch a few bites as well.
I also have video (but it will not upload) of Ian and Aaron dressed up and jamming to The X Factor. Ian is singing along like he know all the words (he doesn't know the song at all) and Aaron is bouncing to the music. We have also been enjoying our glow in the dark parties. Turn up the music and cover yourself in glow sticks. We are eager to get outside and play but have been having a blast inside as well.

Family Pictures Round 2

A few weeks back we headed to Logan for more family pictures. The boys did fairly well. They did not want to smile, but at least they did not scream. Our neighbor Devin (well old neighbor) took the photos. Here are a few of my favorite...

(actually Tim snapped this on while the boys were playing)
Quick Aaron duck -there is a train!!! Just kidding. Don't worry there are no trains on this track. In fact this track is a whole 30 feet long. I am not sure why it is even there, but it makes for great pictures. It is nearly impossible to get these two boys looking in the same direction. We were hoping that Ian could hold him but both of them just wanted to play in the dirt and rocks at some point. Aaron is looking good in this one.Ian is looking better while Aaron is struggling to breathe I am sure. We gave up after that.Had to get some pictures with my brothers...and they needed to be a true representation of our family!
All our family together!
Thanks mom and dad for putting everything together! Now I really need to figure out how to display all of these wonderful family pictures we have been taking lately!

Fall Leaves

It's autumn time the leaves are falling down! I love the fall! The leaves changing colors, the weather getting a little cooler, through on a sweater or jacket and enjoy! It has definitely been much cooler lately. So we have tried our best to take full advantage of any possible time to spend outside. If the sun is shinning we go running. The boys have been having a lot of fun playing in the leaves. We have never had a bunch of leaves to actually jump and play in but there were plenty at our new house.
Aaron decided it would be more enjoyable to crunch the leaves in his mouth. Ian raked together a big pile of leaves. Then Ian and his friend Mathias decided it would be fun to jump in the leaves and throw them at each other. These two are hilarious together mostly because they are so similar. They love to play a little rougher than most, but are excellent at following instruction. Mathias and his family are currently living right next store to us while their house is under construction (normally they just leave down the street). With the sun shinning the boys also wanted to play some soccer. So we pulled out our net and the soccer balls and let them run and play. They were so funny, both taking turns trying to make goals and be the goal keeper. I think we need to have Ian play soccer in the spring. Here is to hoping we have a few more sunny days!
