6 months!

Weight 17.6 lbs 48 %tile
Length 27.5 in 84 %tile
Head 17.7 in 82 %tile

Ian had his 6 month check up today and all went well -the doctor was amazed at how advanced he is.....crawls, sits, rolls...you name he will find a way to do it.

I have been working with him lately on trying to get him to say "Ma ma." Well today Ian said his very first word. I even have witnesses. The doctor had just come in the room and my mom was currently holding Ian (Tim work another grave last night), when the doctor sat down I reached over to hold Ian and he said "Ma ma." Clear as could be -even the doctor was taken back. We were all a little surprised but amazed.

All in all the appointment went really well and it was nice to have grandma's help since we were there for 2 hours!!! Ian is now moving to 2 naps a day because he has become a night owl and lately does not want to go to sleep until midnight he just wants to play. Although I must admit he is extremely happy at this time (if he is not screaming in his crib) but it doesn't work well when I have to be up at 6 am for work. We are hoping for an 8 o'clock bedtime :)

Turkey Day!

Thanksgiving this year was nice and quiet and of course the food was delicious. We spent thanksgiving this year with my immediate family. It was nice lounging around in sweats all day long and of course filling our mouths with food the whole day.On Thanksgiving Ian also got an extra treat...he started eating vegetables. His first vegetable was squash -and boy did he love it! Although you could easily tell when he was finished -he shot his food across his seat and all over my arm. Thanks Ian! Although now three days later I can't get him to even take a bite of anything.

While the food was great and spending time with family was nice it was also a very sad day.

..............................................................................................................................

After almost 3 years our neighbors moved away-while we knew that at some point this would happened we hoped that this day would never come.
Journal Notes: When Tim and I first moved into our home we were unloading some of our many boxes and a large fishers home furnishing truck began backing up. This was the first time we saw our neighbors (actually I don't think we even saw them but we knew we had neighbors -it was late at night). We were all busy with our own lives at the time. Tim and I in school, Ragnar working, and Lisa expecting (Ella). We unfortunately then did not really take the time to get to know one another. In fact truth be told we didn't think they liked us, and they didn't think we liked them.

Being that we share the same wall in our homes we were of course in the same ward. Lisa and I were assigned as visiting teaching partners. It was through visiting teaching that I really got to know my neighbor. Yes I know it is sad our homes shared the same wall and yet it took visiting teaching to help us get more acquainted. But what a blessing it was!

We miss our neighbors dearly and are sad to see them go. We always said that one of us couldn't move unless we both moved at the same time. Unfortunately it did not work out quite as we had hoped. The moment they left when we turned back to walk inside our home we saw their empty house right next to us, it was at that moment that I decided that we have to move as well.

Wendy, Amy, Lisa, and I
(taken the morning they left -we took pictures the day before but looking at the picture below you can now see why we took another one)
That is right we had been cleaning and moving stuff all day.
No make-up, no hair done, and no sense in getting ready for the day.The guys (Tim, Ragnar, Matt, Anthony, Brent)

We will miss you all but hope to see you soon....below is a list of our alphabet memories.

Always there for us no matter what time of day or night
Breakfast for dinner -what could be better than french toast
Cavin always smiling and excited to see everyone
Disney movies -especially "Rella" with Ella.
Ella -she will always be a princess we still consider ourselves her aunt and uncle
Friendship
Games -whether it be backyardian memory, or mexican train
Hours of conversations -time always goes by faster when your talking with a friend
Ian and Cavin: They are just 6 weeks apart it is always nice to see what to expect next
Just chillin' there were many of those days especially with both of our husbands in retail
Knocking (whether it was me throwing my shoes in the closet -it is always nice to know if something were to happen they would hear us or when we taught Ella to knock on the wall to try to wake Tim up)
Lisa: could always count on you to be there even if it meant you watched Ian along with your two other children thanks!
Memories (you can tells there are lots because this did not take me very long to write this)
Never really understanding how much you were a integral and ever so important part of our lives unitl we came home to empty house next door. (N is also for Never knowing that Ragnar played the Cello until the day you left and we saw you carry it down the stairs -3 years you hid that impressive)
Outstanding cookies that always seemed to be freshly cooked when ever we would visit.
Pregnancies -made it so much more fun to be pregnant when your were 6 weeks ahead of me, someone to go and get all those funny cravings with and complain to about not being able to sleep, etc.
Quickly running out of the house on thursday nights (when we were able to).
Ragnar's Sunday atire of white patten leather slippers and a Cowboys jersey.
Swim aerobics -it may have only been once but with a bunch of older ladies and then us younger girls I'll remember it forever.
Tears and Texting -tears are self explanatory but once you got text messaging I think I always went over my bill -sorry dad :)
Understanding
Visiting Teaching
Window shopping -who needs to buy anything when you can look at everything
Xercise & Xhausted (yes I know they start with an e) -I was exhausted seeing you exercise every morning
Yawning after filling our tummies with Cold Stone Cake Batter ice cream.
Z is for a zizzer zazzer zuz'z as you can plainly see (name the Dr Seuss book) or Zipping around the condo building with ella in a wagon.

.............................................................................................................................

We had the opportunity to watch Ella and Cavin before they left one night. It was the cutest thing because the only time we usually watch them and put her to bed is when Lisa and Ragnar go to the temple. This time they went to the Aggie game but Ella keep saying "mom dad at temple." When we would inform her they went to the Aggie game she would begin the Aggie cheer. But she would be sure to tell us that they were at the temple.

Can you tell Ella loves Pike -he will miss her even if she does pull his ears, he doesn't mind. Cavin was even warming up to him as well.

All in all it has been a great three years and while we may not live next door to you we'll still look forward to our conversations for three more years to come:)

Ian Crawling Video

Ian has been an active little guy lately and has improved upon his swimming lately and now has come to an almost full out crawl. Every day he goes a little farther and gets into even more than he is supposed too. You can always tell when he is after something he is not supposed because as you can see in this video, Ian has a little hooting, mischievous grunt that tells us he is headed toward trouble. Enjoy the video.

P.S. How many times do you see the dog in the video? (Do you think he is a little attention starved?)

Forget the Binkie!

I think I would rather eat my toe :)

While getting Ian ready for his nightly bath I placed him in his crib. After filling the tub I came into get him and he was sucking on his toes. Lately he sucks on everything -even both feet at once.

Teaching

My mom was saying that since I am using this as our scrapbook /journal I should really write about some of my teaching experiences. Friday is the day I look forward to. Don't get me wrong I love what I do but by the time weekends come lets say that I am a little more excited than the students.

I love my first two classes they are fundamentals of algebra -these are students that have failed math and struggle quite a bit. There are 25-28 students in both of these classes. Many of the students have a hard time adding, subtracting, multiplying, and division is completely foreign to them. It takes some a little while to figure out what 2*2 (for those of you thinking it is four). They are doing great and we are up to almost the whole class with 90% or higher on their multiplication tables 1-12. Hurray -we have been working on it since August. Some students are in my class because of behavioral problems -one of my students threw a chair at his last teacher (who was a big guy) so they transferred him in my class -(no worries though he is great in my class and my top student). About 1 in every 5 of my students have a parole officer for various things. While these student are a challenge -sometimes the bigger the challenge the greater the reward.
My last three classes are Geometry with anywhere from 32-37 students in a class. My Geometry class are pretty good the students work well individually and I don't usually have to monitor behavior problems as much -but there are always a few of those students that like to be the exception.

Here is a little brief summary of a few things that stand out in my mind so far this year (names are fake but the stories are definitely true).

"Veronica" -stood up and called me a whore last year out of the blue -she was suspended and kicked out of my class. This year she is back in my class and after a brutally honest pep talk she is on of my best students and is always eager to begin :)

"Kiley" -Wrote a note about me (because I needed her to finish her quiz and not write notes -go figure). It was full of profanity and calling me all kinds of things -she is now suspended and will probably be kick out of my class (we'll see that happened Friday). But I have to laugh when many of the words are spelled wrong -you'd think at least she could spell them right. This happens once a month with her talk about PMS.

"Rudy" -has an extremely hard home life..he has decided that he doesn't want to turn out like his parents and is doing all he can to take as many college classes in high school. He came into my class so I could help him look over different classes he could take. Even summer school because he would rather be at school than home.

"Darley" -got in her second fight this year (outside of my classroom)and now has assult on her record. The girl she hit miscarried and the other one was black and blue. She did not consider it a big deal to have an assult on her record -after pulling her to the side and explaining what an assult is and how it will affect her she has decided that she will not fight again. Cross your fingers!

"Georgia" -got upset that she was sitting by a particular girl one day and walked out of class. I called administration to let them know. Five minutes later she shows back up and is standing in my doorway. I ask her to wait for me in the hall -she ignores me drops her backpack and told the other girl "I will take you down right now" as she starts walking. I interveened and had to grab both of her arms and push her out of my class -where another teacher luckily walked by and walked down to the office with her. Needless to say she is no longer attending our school.

"Sara" decided to try out for basketball. I would ask her how it was going because they try-out for three days and it is pretty tough. She had mentioned to me how worried but that she was going to run until she passed out if it ment making the team. On the third day when I arrived to school she was waiting by my door for me to get there to let me know that she made the team!

While I am sure I could think of a hundred more stores these ones stand out the most. All in all you have try to remember the good and to laugh off the bad.

Crawling!

A couple day's ago we posted a video of Ian as a beached whale. Arms and legs moving frantically about as he lays stuck on his tummy. Well not anymore!
Tonight after dinner we put Ian down on the floor to play and all of the sudden he was rolling everywhere and crawling. Yes crawling, our 5 and almost a 1/2 month old. Ok, not from wall to wall but from one side of the blanket to the other. He thinks that it is hilarious. We are excited but at the same time I am suddenly realizing that we need to child proof our home. As I am typing this he is roaming around the office grabbing cords, etc (don't worry as he discovers them I take most of them away).

Video to come soon -we are unfortunately out of video tape but will pick some up tomorrow!
