As many of you might have seen on the news...Smithfield has seen a lot of rain. A LOT! Last week was the worst and we happened to even get some video footage at the beginning of the storm just to give you an idea of the power. Just under an inch and a half of rain fell within about an hour. It was crazy -but luckily with the help of neighbors and all of those around us we were able to keep the damage to a minimum.
We were all luckily enough that this all happened at about 8:30 pm because many of us were still awake. It starts off by hailing -finger tip size pieces. Then turn to a down pour of rain.

We had noticed the water shooting out of the drain then our retention area begins to feel up into what we like to call CastleView lake. This is the beginning of a storm this week.
yes I did say drain -doesn't look like much of a drain now does it.
Hopefully you enjoy seeing how our last couple of weeks were going and still are going. Our thoughts are with those of you still recovering from the damage.

That really was an insane amount of water shooting out. Also, can the video be higher quality? It looks like it came from a cell phone.
That is crazy....I lived there for a while and never really saw rain, just sprinkles! Thanks for looking out for our home too! We sure miss watching out the windows with you!
Wow, what a crazy time. I can't believe it is still coming, hopefully you can get some sunshine soon! Thanks for watching out for us too, It seems like it could have been much worse.
