On Friday Ian woke up with a fever of 100.3 degrees. We did not think much of it mostly because he has been getting so many teeth in. We gave him some Tylenol and called it good. He spent the rest of the day running around with tupperware on his head and playing with his daddy while mommy was at work. Not to mention he loves his Mickey shirt "Icia and Ark (Tricia and Mark)" brought home for him.
He still had a low grade fever throughout the day so we continued to alternate between Tylenol and Motrin. The night he started wheezing and coughing so we all bundled up and heading outside (cold air helps). He hated it but was ok as long as he was able to play in the car. They got us right in and checked his oxygen level which was reading really low -within the second she put the level reader on his foot to under five seconds later there were 4 other people in the room (doctor, respiratory specialist, and two nurses). Talk about fast service. Luckily the oxygen reading was a error and his levels went back up. However his fever was out of control and his heart rate was at 220 beats per minute (he should be between 100-120).
They gave him a breathing treatment and a couple other medication to make the swelling in his neck go down so he could breathe and to lower his fever. They diagnosed him as having croupe. At 3:00 am he still had a high fever. Finally at 3:20 am his fever started to drop and his heart rate started to come back down. We arrived home at 4:00 am and all went straight to bed. Today he is doing much better still have a little bit of trouble breathing but nothing like the other night. We are keeping on a Tylenol and Motrin every three hours or his fever begins to spike again. Hopefully he is feeling better soon -we are all a little grouchy from lack of sleep.
He is currently sleeping in our room in his pack n'play. But loves laying in our bed and watching Handy Manny. The picture on the left his is pretending to sleep. Oh and he loves being absolutely naked -luckily he has not had an accident.

That stinks that he has croupe. That would be quite the scare! I hope he gets feeling better soon.
Poor little guy! That would have scared me also! Hopefully he gets better soon and doesn't get sick any time soon!
Oh that is awful! I hope he is better soon! If you need some company, you can always call! Poor boy!
Poor Ian! (and poor mom and dad!) Hope he gets better soon! Call me if you need anything!
I'm so sorry he is so sick! Don't worry about YW, take care of that little guy. Hope he gets feeling better soon!
Ellie wanted to say the dinner prayer tonight which included "Bless Ian to stop coughing so we can be best friends." I hope his medicine kicks in and he is over the worst of it. Poor guy!
I remember Maddie got really sick once (when she was a toddler) and ended up in the hospital over a weekend. We hadn't realized how sick she was and we took her to the doctor instead of the hospital. (The doctor ended up being the one who sent us to the hospital) Anyway, all those times wishing the doctors would hurry up and see your kid and thinking they never take things seriously enough. Then Maddie got sick and all I remember is how scared I was when they were seeing us so quickly and being so serious. It really changed my mind about doctors. That must have been so scary for you guys.
Boy am I ever sick of winter and sickness. Hope he's doing much better these days. Come on Spring...
Trips to the ER are never fun! Hope you have all been able to get caught up on the missed sleep! He sure is cute even when he's sick!
