Halloween!

We love the fall -but this weekend started out like this -yikes!!!
The kids were already sledding and Ian wanted to join in on the fun. Unfortunately I would not let him go outside because we do not own a winter coat for him. Looks like I will be going shopping.
The kids were nice enough to put snowballs up by the window -which Ian loved. When I opened the window he would say "rrrrrrr" and want it closed. To cold!

We found plenty of ways to entertain ourselves inside.

On Halloween we did lots of activities -Ian loved helping with Sugar Cookies. He would roll out the dough and then push the cookie cutter down with his fist -while smashing the cooking inside.

After making cookies we had lunch -I know a little backwards but that's the way we like it! Then we waited for grandma, grandpa, and Hunter to get here to paint and carve pumpkins.Tim's creation this year just for Ian -he loves lions!
Hunter made a scary face pumpkin, and I painted one with Ian.
Ian loved painting his pumpkin and was ok with a little bit of blue paint on his hands. But once he got a lot of paint, and mostly the red, he decided he was done. He likes to have his hands clean. However tonight he had a sugar cookie with lots of frosting and grandpa showed him to lick his fingers -after that he could have cared less if his hands were covered in frosting.
This year I could not decide what to have Ian be for Halloween. I found the cutest lion outfit online (he loves lions) but it was around fifty dollars. Are you kidding me -I am not going to pay $50 dollars for a costume that he will wear for maybe an hour kicking and screaming in. But it really was very cute! Then I ran across a tutorial online at Make it and Love it for making a peter pan costume...it did not look too bad so I figured what the heck. I figured out how to make the pants from MADE another wonderful blog.
After getting the material that Monday and cutting and pinning, and then another night of sewing his costume I was done!
Impressed??? Me too!
It turned out great and fit him perfectly -I had my doubts the last time I sewed anything for someone to wear was well never. So I'll admit I was amazed! Tim had his doubts -so much that he bought a Ninja costume for him to wear which I made him return on Wednesday after I finished it. Now I have decided that I am going to make Ian a few pairs of pants for the winter -it was pretty easy and super cheap!
So notice that I said Robin Hood in the picture? Well after saying he was peter pan we realized that Peter Pan and Robin Hood look very very similar. However Peter Pan has a green hat and Robin a brown... therefore Ian was dressed as Robin Hood. That night we headed to our neighborhood Trunk-or-Treat and Ian loved it. He would tell everyone "Booooo" instead of trick-or-treat. Once they gave him a piece of candy I would ask him "What do you say," he would reply, "peeeesssss" with his head tilted to the side instead of thank you. Then they would usually they would give him more candy. It was quite funny. When we came home he loved answering the door for the few trick-or-treaters we had. We even let him eat a dum dum -his favorite!

Looks great--I'm assuming you got that idea from Make It and Love It. She always has such great tutorials.

Man, you did so great. I am totally impressed, things like that inspire me, but I am not sure I could ever be so brave. He looks great though and I am glad you were able to celebrate. It looked like most of the snow melted so that it good!

Way to go! I too am so impressed. You'll never have to buy an overpriced halloween costume again. He looks so cute in it and making sugar cookies.

I think the costume turned out so great. I was checking out your sewing job and was impressed. Did Tim carve that pumpkin freehand? He is quite the artist.

Fun to catch up on your blog. I'm impressed with all you get done!!! That costume is great, maybe someday I'll try sewing my own. I'm also impressed by the potty training...I really want to get Eleanore trained by Christmas, I think she gets it but hasn't made much progress yet. I need to dedicate a few days to it I think.
