Our Three Week Old Tummy Sleeper

I promise we are not horrible parents we just value the little sleep that we are able, or allowed to get. Ian is a tummy sleeper -as much as we would like to deny it, it is inevitable. However notice where he is sleeping??? That is right!!! As of Wednesday the 18th Ian was moved into his crib and I moved in there with him. Just kidding -I stayed in my bed too. He was moved there mostly because he has become a tummy sleeper and does not enjoy sleeping in this other chair. I have to say that Tim was more frightened then me of Ian sleeping on his stomach but after he turned Ian to his back and he instantly began getting screaming he gave in too.

We believe Pike is become a little jealous now that we take the baby with us and he stays home. He will learn to adapt he is already doing remarkably well!

Ian loves playing on the floor although he looks a little bug eyed here. Just this past week he has started scooting. He can push him self backwards so that he slides along on the blanket and even the diaper changing table. Now we are not talking like he is moving feet but he is moving a good couple of inches. And when he get mad -mostly because when he wants to eat he wants to eat at that very second and not a moment later -he can move a good 6 inches.

We have seen a lot of family these last few weeks. Tims parents have been staying with us for a few weeks and his brother and wife came out to stay with us as well. My aunt and uncle and there kids came out for Father's Day. Above is their cute little girl Josie holding Ian.

Those of you who know my Grandma Joyce -she is not the tallest of people in fact I believe that everyone is much taller than her now (no offense grandma). Josie said to our grandma, "Look grandma, Ian is tiny just like you!" We thought it was the perfect comment.

I have heard from countless moms who love it when they kids sleep on the belly. They sleep longer and deeper, I am actually wanting to do it with my next, who cares what all the scientists say right? Plus recently sids has been linked to brain functioning and not suffocating so that can be ruled out. Poor Pike, he is feeling what Thomas will be feeling in a few months, minus, we won't leave Thomas home and just take the baby. Hopefully soon you have your house to yourself, it's fun to have company, but I always say they're like fish, after four days, they start to stink!

i'm impressed that as a first time mom that you let him sleep on his belly. usually it takes a kid or two to throw convention out the window, but i totally agree. if he's happier on his tummy, let him be. plus a lot of babies are losing some tummy skills since they aren't on their tummies enough! anyhoo, he's darling and your niece's comment is great. kids do just say the darnedest things.

Jack was trying to roll over on his tummy since he was born! Even before he could roll over, we would find him in a really weird position just trying to get on that tummy. He still sleeps on his tummy to this day. I was so worried and my mom told me that everyone has their own comfortably way of sleeping and I guess that's his!
