When moving down to Utah Valley we knew that there would be a lot of things to do. We just didn't realize how many family oriented things there really are!
We absolutely love going to the zoo! We are proud zoo members and enjoy going in the evenings during the members only late nights. It is a little bit cooler and the animals are much more active. I think in just two months we have been to the zoo six times. We now have it down to a science and usually can go through the whole zoo in couple hours.
We love watching the giraffe's eat. The other evening the young giraffe was running around outside.
That same night the tiger cubs were playing in the water. We watched the tigers play for about 30 minutes. It was amazing.

Ian loves the tigers.Tim has had fun making peacock sounds to get the peacocks attention and they will spread their feathers.
Last week they had a Boosters only late night. They had face painting. late shows, tee shirt coloring, washable tattoos, and crafts for the kids. Ian loved getting his face painted. I was pretty sure he was going to fall asleep while she was painting his face.
His T-Rex tattoo (inside of his right arm for zoorassic event at the zoo), and his t-shirt he colored. Well, Ian wrote (aka scribbled) all the animal names he could think of and Tim drew their tracks.
We even had time to play at the discovering playground at the zoo before leaving. We have also enjoyed going to "The Living Aquarium" in draper. We headed there for the shark week to enjoy the extra crafts they were doing. Warning: To our snake fearing family members you may want to scroll down a few six inches and skip the next couple of pictures.
Ian thought the green snake was funny looking.
I am not sure if you can tell from this picture. This is an anaconda snake and it is insanely huge.

We loved watching the penguins swim around and play.
At the aquarium they also have a petting tank with smaller sharks (for shark week) and stingrays. One stingray in particular loved Ian and would swim up the side and splash him.
He loved them so much he had to have a stingray of his own.
When we entered the aquarium it was nice and sunny. A few hours later when leaving it was like a trenchial downpour. The weather here in Utah has been so crazy. One minute it is sunny and the next minute it is pouring rain. This was the parking lot at the aquarium with "rivers" flowing down it and water shooting out of everything. While Utah Valley is close to the zoo and aquarium we have found a lot of other things to do that are literally just minutes from our home. Not to mention that they are free! There are so many splash parks around the valley. Ian has had a blast playing in the water.
His favorite things to do at every splash park is to find the fountains and stand on them.
Aaron doesn't mind it much either. We spread out the towel and sit in the shade while we watch Ian play.
