After Ian's superhero birthday party we all enjoyed a much needed nap! Then we headed to the booster only early opening of Rocky Shores! The kids were very excited truth be told we may have been more excited than they were.
It was a mad house! We drove up with our friends Sarah and her little boy Crew (her husband jeremy had class that night). I love this picture of the two of them (and the random stranger smiling for the picture in the background). Since it was a booster night they had activities out for the kids to enjoy! Ian and crew made sun visors and fans. While Tim went with Aaron to get us some good seats for the bird show!
No surprise that Ian chose the pink :) Did I mention he was a super grump? He fell asleep in the car on the way there and did not want to wake up. This picture pretty much says it all!
Aaron being bashful -sorry it focused on the kid in the background
The kids loved the bird show! There is just something about birds flying directly above your head that just makes it so exciting!
After the bird show we walked around and saw many of the other animals. Ian loves sitting on the elephant and laughing at the kids getting sprayed! He does not want to be sprayed with water (it shoots out his nostrils) but he sure enjoys it when other do.
Crew (3 yrs old) was hilarious! Right as he sat on the elephant it started snoring and Crew throws his arms in the arm and says something like, "What the heck, he's sleeping." It was too funny! He did not find it very funny.
The new rocky shores exhibit is beautiful! While I wish I could take credit for these pictures I can't they came from Deseret News. I did not get any pictures of the new animals there were too many people.
The kids and I could have watched the seals and the sea lion forever. Their exhibit is amazing! It is definitely a must see for the summer. I would suggest going early in the morning or late in the evening though -it is hot outside! The kids were all getting grumpy and tired so we stopped at the new restaurant they opened that overlooks the elephants. It was quite tasty and the kids were all feeling much better after getting some food in them. Especially Ian!
